And it wasn’t just the tower that would collapse—Ayana had told them that failure to officiate a Sciphil would crumble the entire Eudaiz energy system and destroy it completely.

Now she understood Ciaran better than ever—his vision, his resistance to give Moira access to super soldiers. Actions that had implications for galactic consequences had to be considered with care and should never be driven purely by personal reasons. Ciaran put the interest of the multiverse above all personal matters.

He didn’t want that kind of responsibility on his shoulders. He loved her, and all he wanted was his family. But this journey had taken them down this path, and their lives were not their own anymore.
